The BIE BHWP Call Line, Option 2, is the referral line to schedule Virtual Counseling services. These services are grounded in solution-focused short-term counseling.
How to Access Virtual Counseling?
Adults and College Students:
Call 1-844-ASK-BHWP (1-844-275-2497) and select Option 2.
Students K-12:
Reach out to your school’s Point of Contact.
What to Expect from Virtual Counseling Sessions?
One-on-one counseling.
Grounded in a solution-focused, brief therapy framework.
School-based model.
Evidence-based and culturally sensitive.
Short-term (up to six sessions).
Confidential and HIPAA-compliant.
Provided at NO COST.
Virtual Counseling Eligibility
The following entities funded by BIE are eligible for Virtual Counseling:
K-12 schools.
Haskell Indian Nations University students and staff.
Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute students and staff.
Students and staff from Tribal Colleges and Universities receiving funding from BIE.
Staff members from other programs and/or departments funded by BIE.
BIE BHWP Virtual Counseling Services DO NOT support:
Long-term, intensive therapy.
Substance abuse treatment.
Diagnostic testing.
Sharing counseling progress with supervisors (as part of personnel actions).
Psychological exams.
What is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy?
According to research, solution-focused brief therapy:
Decreases behavioral health symptoms.
Significantly improved student or staff well-being once they implemented the recommended behavior changes (when provided in a school setting).
Is effective for students who have intellectual, learning or developmental difficulties.
Is adaptable for cultural sensitivity.
